About Lesson
In digital systems, most data is sent directly through wires and printed circuit boards (PC boards). Sometimes, data is sent from one place to another using telephone lines or cables. If all the data are sent over parallel lines at the same time, it costs a lot and requires big cables. To get around this, data from several lines is put together at one point, and then it is sent serially over a single wire. At the other end, it is put together in parallel. This is done with the help of multiplexers and demultiplexers.
